CPA Sydney Congress

by Caroline Wiroth on October 25 2011

The CPA Congress in Sydney last week was a big success and everyone at Corality had a great time. We thoroughly enjoy spending time with people who share our passion for numbers and best practice modelling!

A BIG thank you to everyone who came to visit us at our exhibition booth – it was great meeting you all and thanks again for the positive feedback and interesting questions. We hope you had a good time and that we were able to show you some of the tips and tricks that we use to build best practice financial models in Excel.

Many people at the CPA Congress asked us for a copy of the Excel model we used in our Excel master class and during our mini workshops. We believe more people could be interested in this so we have put together a little “goodie bag” including:

  • Corality’s best practice Excel demo model
  • Corality’s Excel shortcut sheet – start using Excel shortcuts
  • The SMART modelling manual
  • Corality’s Excel add-in
  • Information about our training courses

Corality’s best practice Excel demo model

Download the best practice Excel demo model we used at the Expo to illustrate best practice modelling. It highlights the benefits of modelling the SMART way, the importance of building flexible and transparent models and the benefits of focusing on model presentation to increase usability. We hope that you will find the model structure useful in your day to day work – we want to help you build better models.

Corality’s Excel shortcut cheat sheet

Remove your dependence on using your computer mouse when working in Excel – download your Excel shortcut sheet.

Using Excel shortcuts will help you:
(1) Increase your modelling productivity and save you time and money
(2) Improve your work posture and prevent strain associated with RSI (repetitive strain injury)

SMART modelling methodology – get your SMART modelling manual

Corality’s modelling methodology, SMART, is a set of best practice guidelines internationally applauded for effective and professional financial modelling. Start modelling the SMART way – it will help you decrease modelling risk and increase the confidence of all users.
Find out more about the SMART modelling methodology and get the SMART manual.

Corality Excel Styles add-in – overcome style limitations in Excel 2007 and 2010

Corality’s “Excel 07/10 Styles Hotkey Tool” is custom built to bring back the Style functionality from Excel 2003. If you have missed this function and want to work faster when formatting in Excel - download Corality’s Excel add-in. Once you have installed this handy tool you will always have “Styles” handy, allowing you to standardise cell formatting and ensure your model has a consistent and professional look.

Corality training courses – get ready for your next challenge

We saw a lot of interest in our Business Case Modelling course during the CPA Congress. Many of the CPA delegates were interested in working more efficiently in Excel and learning more about how to build best practice financial models for cashflow forecasting and what-if analysis.

Corality’s Business Case Modelling course takes you through the most efficient ways of building powerful cashflow analysis models in Excel to answer critical questions, provide what-if analysis and comparisons of different scenarios.
