Corality recently attended the Oscars of Infrastructure! Yes, we are talking about the National Infrastructure Awards.

Infrastructure Partnership Australia (IPA) is Australia’s peak infrastructure forum and the convener of the National Infrastructure Awards. The awards honour both private and public sector achievement and celebrate, as well as rewards, the innovation of the Australian infrastructure community.
This year’s gala event was hosted in Sydney in the presence of the movie stars of the Infrastructure community including key bankers, contractors and public officials. Corality attended together with our partners at Bilfinger Berger Project Investments.
National Infrastructure Awards – Project of the year
The Project of the Year recognises exceptional achievement in the delivery of a major, transformational, infrastructure project. Bilfinger Berger was nominated in this prestigious category for their work on Ararat Prison in Victoria (Aegis Correctional Partnership consortium).
As part of the Aegis Correctional Partnership consortium, Corality completed a financial model audit of the PPP bid model for this project and provided assurance of the model’s structure, integrity and outputs. The Ararat Prison expansion is expected to be completed in late 2012 and is the first Victorian social infrastructure project to be procured in accordance with the National PPP Guidelines approved by COAG in November 2008.
Best practice procurement
The National Infrastructure Awards reflect IPA’s principles of best practice in procurement, design and delivery of key assets and services and provide an important opportunity for the infrastructure sector to come together and celebrate its successes in building the nation for the future. Brendan Lyon is the CEO of the IPA and one of Australia’s most active industry lobbyists. He is also frequently quoted in the Australian Financial Review.

Bilfinger Berger was unfortunately unsuccessful this year; the Project of the Year award went to Leighton Abigroup Joint Venture for the Queensland Gateway Upgrade Project. Corality congratulates the Queensland Government, Abigroup, Leighton Contractors, Queensland Motorways Limited, AECOM, Aurecon, Cardno, Coffey International, Conneq, Evans & Peck, Sinclair Knight Merz, SMEC and VSL Australia on this outstanding project.
The Queensland Gateway Project
The $2.12 billion Gateway Upgrade Project is a Queensland Government initiative delivered by Queensland Motorways, with design and construction by the Leighton Abigroup Joint Venture. The project covers 24 kilometres and involved the duplication of Brisbane’s iconic Gateway Bridge, as well as the upgrade of the Gateway Motorway south of the Bridges. The project was completed seven months early and delivers a major enhancement to Brisbane’s road estate.
The Oscars of Infrastructure is over for this year, we look forward to next years nominations.
