I am attending the annual Excellence in oil and gas conference in Sydney on Monday and Tuesday next week. It will be interesting to see how the oil and gas sector is holding up given the drastic change in oil prices since last year’s conference. The excellence in oil and gas conference is always a good way to catch up with contacts in the industry and to get the latest updates on some of the key players in junior-mid sized oil and gas companies - Tino Guglielmo from Stuart Petroleum, Alex Parks from Otto Energy, David Salisbury from NZOG and Michael Scott from Cooper Energy.

Moving the conference from the Four Seasons to the Hilton

The conference has been moved from the Four Seasons to the Hilton in Sydney which should give a new feel to a sector that needs a bit of positive thinking at the moment. The corporate activity in the oil and gas sector has almost completely restricted to mergers and acquisitions and only a minimum of new project developments and bank project financings taking place.
